Medicare, made clear
Turning 65 or rethinking your current plan? We translate the alphabet soup of Medicare into plain choices, compare Advantage and Supplement options across carriers, and make sure you enroll on time.
The parts of Medicare, without the jargon
Medicare comes in four parts. Here's what each one actually does, and how they fit together.
Part A
Hospital insurance
Inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing, hospice, and some home health care. Most people pay no premium.
Part B
Medical insurance
Doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and durable medical equipment.
Part C
Medicare Advantage
An all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare from private carriers, often with extra dental, vision, and drug benefits.
Part D
Prescription drugs
Coverage that helps with the cost of your medications, available on its own or built into an Advantage plan.
Medicare Advantage or a Supplement?
Most people choose between these two approaches. There's no universally right answer, only the one that fits your doctors, health, and budget.
Medicare Advantage
All-in-one · Part C
- One plan bundles hospital, medical, and usually drugs
- Often $0 premium with extra perks (dental, vision, hearing)
- Uses a network of doctors and hospitals
- Yearly out-of-pocket maximum for protection
Medicare Supplement
Medigap + Original Medicare
- Pairs with Original Medicare to fill the gaps
- See any doctor that accepts Medicare, no networks
- Very predictable costs, ideal for frequent care
- Add a standalone Part D plan for prescriptions

What people ask us about Medicare
Your Initial Enrollment Period is the seven months around your 65th birthday, three months before, your birthday month, and three months after. Missing it can mean lifelong penalties, so it's worth a quick call to get the timing right.
Medicare Advantage (Part C) bundles everything into one private plan, often with $0 premium and extra perks, using a provider network. A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover out-of-pocket costs and lets you see any doctor that accepts Medicare. We'll help you weigh which fits your health and budget.
No. Our Medicare guidance is completely free, we're compensated by the carriers, and as an independent agency we compare plans across companies rather than pushing one.
Yes. Each fall's Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 to Dec 7) lets you switch plans, and there are other windows too. We review your coverage every year to make sure it still fits.
